The short answer
A Robinhood Agentic account is a separate Robinhood brokerage account made for AI agents. You open it next to your regular individual account, put in the money you want an agent to use, and connect an AI agent to it. The agent can see and trade that account and nothing else.
Robinhood launched Agentic Trading on May 27, 2026. It’s free for eligible US customers.
How it differs from your regular Robinhood account
- Its own cash. Money an agent can use has to be in the Agentic account. The agent can’t reach your individual account, your IRA, or anything else you hold at Robinhood.
- You move the money. Deposits and withdrawals happen in the Robinhood app. An agent can trade the balance, but it can’t move money in or out of Robinhood.
- More than one if you want. You can open up to ten Agentic accounts, each with its own budget, for example one per strategy or per agent.
- Connected, not shared. You approve the agent on Robinhood’s own sign-in page. The agent never gets your Robinhood password.

What an agent can trade there
Agentic Trading launched with stocks and ETFs. Robinhood added crypto on August 17, 2026 for eligible customers; it isn’t available in every state, including New York. Robinhood has said more asset types come in later phases, so what your account can trade depends on what Robinhood has turned on for it.
In Agency, agents trade stocks and ETFs, crypto pairs like BTC-USD, and single calls and puts bought to open. Options need options level 2 or higher on the Agentic account itself; approval on another account doesn’t count.
Who can open one
- You need an existing Robinhood individual account in good standing.
- Setup and connecting agents are desktop only.
- Robinhood decides eligibility and where the account is available.

How an AI agent connects to it
Robinhood exposes the account to agents through its trading MCP, a standard way for AI apps to use tools. Chat assistants that support MCP can connect to it, and so can dedicated apps built for investing.
Agency is one of those apps. You click Connect Robinhood, approve it in your browser on Robinhood’s page, and Agency keeps the connection encrypted on your Mac. From then on it can only trade the Agentic account, and each agent only its own slice of it.
What the account doesn’t do for you
The Agentic account limits what an agent can reach. It doesn’t make the agent’s decisions good. An agent can still lose everything in the account, so the rules you give it and how much you put in matter as much as the account itself.
